跳舞 Program’s Annual Spring Mainstage: 跳舞 Production
Join our cast for a diverse evening of dance; including a wide variety of dance genres—Mexican Folklore, 西非, 芭蕾舞, 现代, 嘻哈, 当代. Thirteen choreographers explore themes of motherhood, 社区, 时间的流逝, 体育, the overturning of Roe V Wade, traditional cultural dance, 内存, examining one’s thoughts, 忍冬属植物, and celebrating the good times.

跳舞 Production 2021
Principia College 跳舞 premiered the institutions first site-specific dance concert with a sold-out 8 show run on 4月1日5, 16, 17, 2021. The performance also included a virtual viewing option through the platform, 在舞台上, which was widely accessed and enjoyed! 跳舞 Production 2020
35 performers--students, faculty, live musician, and 社区 members--were involved in the show. Students worked with two faculty choreographers and 10 student choreographers. 另外, 6 students worked with guest artist Lynn Peterson, Co-Artistic Director/跳舞r of SYREN Modern 跳舞 in New York City setting company repertoire (excerpts of 温柔的 choreographed by SYREN Co-Artistic Director Kate St. 阿曼达). Due to COVID-19, the show parameters shifted to a virtual presentation. All dances were performed as in-progress showings on stage before students left campus and archived via video. The official virtual presentation included videos of pieces in their stage version and a new dance-for-camera version of each dance. Enjoy the Finale of our Virtual 跳舞 Prod 2020 below!
跳舞 Production 2019
跳舞 Production 2019 showcased 11 student choreographers, including a dance-for-camera piece that was presented at the “Give 跳舞 a Chance” festival at Alton’s Jacoby 艺术 Center in November 2018. Guest artists included: Keli Brooke Hermes (upbeat group 爵士乐 piece) and San Francisco-based artist Hilary Palanza (当代 trio). The show featured 36 dancers and showcased 嘻哈, 摇摆不定的, 爵士乐, 现代, 当代, Afro-pop, 和爱尔兰风格.
“今年, student choreographers are being inspired to use their art as a vehicle for healing, to spur continued conversations on social issues, and to challenge norms in our immediate college 社区,莱恩说. “Their bravery—and that of the 36 cast members—make the show a must-see event.”
跳舞 Production 2018
跳舞 Production highlighted five student choreographers, one alumni choreographer, two guest choreographers—Karen Montanaro (world-renowned mime artist) and Ashley Tate (Artistic Director of Ashleyliane 跳舞 Company)—and a work by faculty choreographer/director Erin Lane. The show featured 27 dancers, 展示mimedance, 嘻哈, 有节奏的水龙头, 摇摆不定的, 现代, and 当代 styles.
“Students are zooming in on themes of communication, 妇女权益, 支持系统, individual struggles within the human experience, and the unity that can be found after the struggle,莱恩说. “They are showing that dance is a powerful medium for individual expression through artistry and technique.”
